Girls vs. Boys
I had to go to the doctor today.
As I was sitting in the waiting room, watching Ayda play with the toys they had, a little boy and his Mom came and sat by us. Ayda,of course, made friends with him. He looked a lot older than her, but he was actually her same age. They started playing and I struck up a conversation with his Mom. She asked me if I knew what I was having. I told her a boy. She replied with how nice it was that I was able to have one of each, and warned me that I had my work cut out for me. She said that with "boys" they have a lot more energy than girls, have a hard time sitting in one place, won't stay by you when you go to the store, and she is utterly exhausted by the end of the day.
She said that she knew "girls" had more emotional breakdowns, but boys were harder physically.
I just sat there, smiled, nodded, and thought to myself, you have no idea what my daughter is capable of. And if this little guy inside of me is anything like her... I'm in trouble.
From the moment Ayda wakes up, she has energy to spare! She loves to run, climb, wrestle, jump, play. But not only does she love to do these things, she has incredible endurance, and can do them FOREVER!!! And she has no fear! The girl does not tire easily! Plus, she has a hard time sitting in one place for very long, and does not stay by me in when we go to the store. Oh, and she can be emotional too!
Don't get me wrong, I adore Ayda and her zest for life. She is truly a joy and so much fun! I just think it was funny that the girl assumed only "boys" could be physically exhausting.
It seems to me, that each kid has their own, unique personality regardless of their gender.
In all honesty, I'm writing this blog post for me. I'm trying to reassure myself that what that girl said couldn't possibly be true. That this little guy inside of me will come out calm, easygoing, relaxed, serene, obedient, a strong desire to do whatever I say and angelic.

Good genes
I went to the doctor the other day, and he said something kind of funny.
I was complaining to him that with this pregnancy, I felt like a hundred year old woman.
He said, "well, you aren't twenty anymore, but you still have a great stomach. I guess you got your good genes to thank for that."
Yep, doc. I do have good genes... the best!

Life
I was looking at her the other day, and she looks like a little girl now! What happened to my baby girl!?
Here are a few things she has been up to....
Ayda's vocabulary has been crazy the last few months! We can can carry on conversations now, and I love it! But I'm realizing I have to be careful of the things I say because she is repeating them. Here are a few of my favorite things she has been saying.
"OH MY GOSH! Let me out of this car seat!"
"Ok, I give you a second chance."
"Ummmm... No thanks." ( She always say this when I offer her something healthy to eat or ask her to do something).
"GEEZ!" (I notice that she says this quite frequently when she is waiting for a kid to go down the park slide and he/she is not going down fast enough... the girl has no patience).
Have I mentioned how much energy Ayda has? We bought a pass to a water park this summer and Ayda has been LOVING it! She loves to go down the fast, adult slides with Daddy, and even when they crash and she gets dunked, she says,"again, again!"
Ayda is starting to enjoy singing, and every time we pick her up from nursery the leaders praise her and say what a good singer she is and knows all of the songs. She also likes to reenact the movies she likes, especially Tangled. I catch her looking at herself in the mirror saying how much she looks like Rapunzel, as she strokes her own hair. It's hilarious!
Ayda is loving books! She even has some of her books memorized, and it sounds like she is really reading them. She also knows and can identify her letters and numbers up to ten, she can count to ten, although she always skips the number five and can kind of say her ABC's.
Lately, Ayda has been a little sassy. It seems like I hear a lot of , " I do it by myself!" and " that's mine!" And bedtime has been a struggle. Her bedtime routine was taking us over an hour to do! She always wanted one more book, or song, and heaven forbid if we didn't do "second hugs"! We are working on it, folks. I think we have had enough of being her "monkey boy"! The girl still has a will of iron, but perhaps it's a good thing in this day and age.
You know the things I love most about Ayda are, her happy disposition. She almost ALWAYS has a smile on her face, she is friendly, always saying hi to people, loves to play with her friends and make new friends wherever she goes. She is fun and hilarious. She is tender hearted and loving.
Ok, so this has been a bit of a novel, but I don't think I've blogged since May. Let's just say this entry is for the Grandma's.
Ah, this was taken before I got really fat. And look at the little Missy next to me!
One of Ayda's favorite pastimes... the park!
Another favorite pastime... her new pool! (pardon the nudity)
